1. Introduction
Mozi ("we", "our", "us") operates the Mozi desktop application and the trymozi.com website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.
2. How Mozi Works
Mozi is designed with a local-first architecture. The Mozi desktop application runs on your computer and communicates directly with Ableton Live on your machine. Your Ableton Live project files, audio files, and MIDI data remain on your computer.
However, when you submit a prompt or request to Mozi, the following data is transmitted to our cloud servers for AI processing:
- Your text prompt (the natural language command you type)
- Project state metadata, such as track names, tempo, key, time signature, and arrangement structure, which is needed to generate accurate AI responses
- Conversation history for the current session to maintain context
This data is sent to our cloud backend and then forwarded to OpenAI for AI processing (see Section 6 for details). We do not transmit your raw audio files, rendered MIDI data, or Ableton Live project files (.als) to our servers.
3. Information We Collect
Account Information
We collect the following information when you create an account:
- Email address
- Name (optional)
- Hashed password (if using email/password authentication)
- Google account identifier (if using Google Sign-In)
AI Processing Data
When you use Mozi, we transmit and process:
- Your text prompts and conversation history
- Project state metadata (track names, tempo, key, time signature, arrangement structure)
- AI-generated plans and execution results
Billing Information
If you subscribe to a paid plan:
- Subscription tier and status
- Prompt usage counts per billing period
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe; we do not store your credit card information
Telemetry (Opt-In Only)
If you opt in to telemetry in the desktop application settings, we may collect anonymous usage data such as feature usage counts and crash reports. This data does not include any personally identifiable information or creative content. You can opt out at any time.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To process your prompts and generate AI responses
- To send email verification and password reset emails
- To provide access to the desktop application download
- To track subscription usage and enforce plan limits
- To improve our product and services (aggregated, anonymous data only)
5. Data Storage and Security
Account data is stored on secure servers hosted on Microsoft Azure. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Authentication tokens are stored securely using your operating system's secure credential storage (e.g., macOS Keychain) and expire automatically. We use HTTPS for all communications between your application and our servers.
6. Third-Party Services
We share data with the following third-party service providers:
- OpenAI: Your text prompts, conversation history, and project state metadata are sent to OpenAI's API for AI processing. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default. OpenAI may retain API data for up to 30 days for abuse and safety monitoring purposes. Authorized OpenAI personnel may review data for safety purposes. - Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
- Stripe: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. See Stripe's Privacy Policy for details.
- Resend: We use Resend to send transactional emails (verification, password reset). Your email address is shared with Resend for this purpose.
- Microsoft Azure: Our cloud infrastructure is hosted on Microsoft Azure. All data stored on our servers is processed within Azure's infrastructure.
7. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained until you request deletion of your account.
- AI conversation data: Retained for the duration of your account to provide conversation history and improve service quality. You may request deletion at any time.
- Billing records: Retained for up to 7 years to comply with tax and accounting obligations.
- Authentication tokens: Access tokens expire after 1 hour. Refresh tokens expire after 30 days. Email verification codes expire after 15 minutes. Password reset tokens expire after 1 hour.
- Anonymous telemetry: Retained in aggregated form indefinitely. Individual telemetry records are deleted after 12 months.
- OpenAI data retention: OpenAI may retain API data sent for processing for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, after which it is deleted.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Opt out of telemetry at any time via the desktop application settings

9. Do Not Track
Some web browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. Because there is no common understanding of how to interpret DNT signals, our website does not currently respond to browser DNT signals. You can opt out of telemetry data collection in the Mozi desktop application settings at any time.
10. Children's Privacy
Mozi is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@trymozi.com.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via email or through the desktop application.
